Driving Innovation in Refractory Engineering
At Amar Ceramic Industries (ACI), Research & Development plays an important role in ensuring consistent quality, reliable performance, and application suitability of our refractory products. Our R&D activities are closely linked with manufacturing and quality control to support the development and improvement of fire bricks, monolithic refractories, insulation products, and custom refractory shapes.
As an Indian refractory manufacturer supplying both domestic and export markets, our focus remains on practical performance, process understanding, and compliance with applicable standards.
Innovation Rooted in Practical Performance
Our R&D philosophy is built on a simple belief: Refractory materials must perform reliably inside the furnace, not just in laboratory reports.
Our vision is to be a globally respected refractory solutions provider, delivering high-performance fire bricks, monolithic refractories, insulation products, and custom shapes that meet the evolving needs of industries worldwide.
- Application-driven material innovation
- Consistent quality across production batches
- Longer lining life and reduced maintenance costs
- Continuous improvement aligned with global refractory standards
In-House Testing & Quality Support
At Amar Ceramic Industries, R&D activities are supported by an in-house laboratory that works closely with production and quality teams. The facility is used for routine evaluation of raw materials, in-process checks, and final product verification to ensure consistency across batches.
The laboratory carries out standard physical and chemical tests relevant to refractory materials, following applicable IS, ASTM, and DIN methods where required. These evaluations help in product selection, grade verification, and quality documentation.
By linking laboratory observations with manufacturing feedback, ACI maintains stable production practices and supports reliable supply for both domestic customers and export requirements.
Standard Tests for Refractory Materials
Our laboratory conducts standard physical and chemical tests commonly used in the refractory industry to evaluate raw materials and finished products. These tests help ensure that fire bricks, castables, mortars, and insulation materials meet defined specifications.
- Chemical composition analysis
- Bulk Density and Apparent Porosity
- Cold Crushing Strength (CCS)
- Permanent Linear Change (PLC)
- Refractoriness (where applicable)
- Particle size analysis for raw materials
Supporting Application-Specific Requirements
ACI’s R&D supports the development and modification of refractory products to suit specific applications and operating conditions.
Product development activities are carried out in coordination with production to ensure manufacturability and consistency.
- Selection of suitable alumina grades for fire bricks
- Development of monolithic refractories for specific uses
- Design and supply of custom refractory shapes based on drawings
- Adjustments in formulations based on service feedback
Consistency Through Material Understanding
Raw materials significantly influence refractory performance. This helps maintain uniformity in production batches, especially for repeat and export orders.
ACI’s R&D activities include:
- Evaluation of raw materials such as bauxite and other refractory minerals
- Monitoring of chemical composition and particle size
- Supporting quality control during procurement and processing
- Identification and reduction of common defects
- Improvement in dimensional consistency
